In Rusty's Corner
11/29/06 - Rusty Rubin
Since this will be my last column until the New Year, I’ve decided to do something a bit different
and add some controversy.
First, the World Boxing Hall of Fame has announced an autograph signing show at the Light and Life School in Sylmar,
California. If you’re a collector or just a fan, a lot of great So. Cal. boxers will be on hand. Proceeds benefit
the school and the WBHF, as well as the boxers themselves. The date is December 9th and the event will be held
from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. You won’t be disappointed. |

Not shocked at Manny Paquiao’s surprisingly easy win over Erik Morales, who, at the weakened weight of 130,
just couldn’t get untracked and was stopped in the third round.
I expected Morales to tire late and lose a close decision. Shows how hard it is to fight at a no-longer-natural weight. |

WBO Should Order Arnaoutis Rematch!
11/22/06 - Star Boxing
DeGuardia hopes WBO will step in and protect integrity of title
“Almost universally, the press, HBO commentators, Harold Lederman and fans had Arnaoutis winning the fight.”
Promoter Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing agrees with the press and with the most of the fans in attendance that
the official decision in the WBO Light Welterweight Championship fight between his fighter, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis,
and Colombian Ricardo Torres was questionable, and, like many others, is hoping the WBO will “do the just thing”
by ordering a rematch between the two fighters and/or by keeping Arnaoutis in the #1 ranked position in their ratings. |

Local boxer takes on the world
11/20/06 - Dan McDonald
Unbeaten Chamblin will travel overseas for a WIBF title bout
Kasha Chamblin's professional boxing career spans only two years and eight fights - all wins - but that
was enough to catch the eye of the Women's International Boxing Federation (WIBF). |

Duva: Let’s Make Holt/Torres Now!
11/20/06 - Star Boxing

wishes to send his best wishes to a new champion: “Congratulations to Ricardo Torres for winning the WBO
Championship over the weekend against Mike Arnaoutis.” |

As predicted, (for a change), Evander Holyfield sleepwalked through ten rounds against Fres Oquendo. If
either aging heavyweight impresses you, then it doesn’t take much to do so.
Also an easy pick, Wladamir Klitschko scored a TKO against Calvin Brock, who was competitive till round six,
where the Ukraine took control, started using his jab, and knocked Brock down and out in round seven. |

Star Boxing at the Paradise Theater!

Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing proudly announce their next event, an eight-bout night of professional boxing
at “the most spectacular and grandiose theater ever built in the United States,” the Paradise Theater in
Bronx, New York, on Friday, December 8. |

Klitschko knocks out Brock at MSG!
11/14/06 - Mike Indri
Decisive victory solidifies IBF Champ as boxing’s best.
New York - Wladimir Klitschko, who earlier in the week had said he really can’t be considered the best
heavyweight boxer without all the titles being unified, did wonders for his calling as the top dog of
all the heavyweights with his impressive 7th round knockout victory of highly touted and previously
undefeated Calvin Brock. |

In Rusty's Corner
11/10/06 - Rusty Rubin
Many times, when you look for a big punch to make a difference in a fight, you get one, but from the wrong guy.
That’s what happened in the Briggs – Liakovich fight in Phoenix, when Briggs, who has a reputation for running
out of gas, landed with 26 seconds to go in a fight he was going to lose, and knocked out the Russian WBO champion.. |

Garcia making up for lost time
11/05/06 - Peter Lim
"I want to be as active as possible," Garcia said. "I'd like to step it
up. If it's an early knockout I'd like to fight again in a
week-and-a-half or two weeks. I'm in shape already and if I knock them
out early, there's no sense in sitting around and waiting for another
fight to come up two months later. |

judah-press release
11/05/06 - Tim Lueckenhoff
In the first appeal from a decision of a boxing commission to
the Association of Boxing Commissions ("ABC") since the 1996 enactment
of a federal law entitled the "Professional Boxing Safety Act" ("PBSA")
providing for such an appeal, the ABC recently ruled that the revocation
of Zab Judah's boxer's license by the Nevada Athletic Commission for
"unsportsmanlike conduct" during Judah's IBF welterweight championship
fight against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. on April 8, 2006 is reciprocally
enforceable by all boxing commissions in the United States. |

Kendall Holt is back!
11/05/06 - Mike Indri
ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- Tough luck and injury plagued, Kendall Holt was once labeled a "can't miss"
prospect - before enduring his hardships, along with an unthinkable knockout loss (Thomas Davis TKO 1) in 2004.
Out of action for well over a year, Holt was pitted against the dangerous and undefeated South African
fighter Issac Hlatshwayo (25-0); who had beaten fellow South Africans Phillip N'dou and Cassius Baloyi,
as well as Nate Campbell. |
