The question of the day is why is no one associated with Women in Boxing in either major Boxing Hall of Fames?

Not Christy Martin not Lucia Rjyker nor Gwen Adair or Deidre Gogarty just to name a few of the gals who in my view deserve induction.

Granted it wasn’t the women that made boxing the sport it is today, although some might think it would be good to be able blame them for the problems it has. I know a lot of men who blame women for just about every problem they have.

In all seriousness, however, boxing is not nor should not be an all male institution. There are other awards given from time to time to gals who helped build the sport, but none for women inducted as boxers themselves.

The issue is not if women boxing is good for the sport…although as often as not they do provide a lot of action for the crowd, especially when their bout is sandwiched between some dull male fights.

Perhaps a better answer may be why not create a Female Boxing Hall of Fame?***
Finally, a strong boxing card on Nov. 15, at the High School in Meridian, Miss.***

And old friend Beau Williford of Louisiana has been doing an outstanding job with the amateurs, and was given an accommodation by the House of Representatives, and he also received a letter from President Bush. Keep up the great work, my friend…When you help the kids you do more then your share to help our sport.***

Agree or disagree, I’d like to hear from you.

CAMACHO VS. CHAVEZ II – “THE REVENGE”

ring In response to your “say it ain’t so” blurb, and as manager for Hector "Macho" Camacho, I would like to enlighten you as to the status of Camacho vs. Chavez II bout, a/k/a "More Mucho Macho Madness!"

Although the t's have yet to be crossed and the i's dotted, it is looking as though it is a definite maybe for, hmmmmm...More Mucho Macho Madness in March in Mexico. Barring any unforeseen injuries, or television conflicts, More Mucho Macho Madness may move to May. Additionally, Camacho Jr. may take on Duran Jr. on the same card, although nothing has been finalized here either.

Furthermore, Hector has never been retired, and at 41 he's in better shape than most 20-somethings...you can still bounce a quarter off of his abs (I don't, because he never gives it back!) Nevertheless, Chavez II "The Revenge" will undoubtedly be his last professional fight, and he will subsequently officially retire, Camacho style. Whatever will you sportswriters do, when you don't have Camacho to kick around anymore?

I do thank you for your concern about Camacho’s economic situation; fortunately, he's more than financially stable. However, in the event that you were planning a fund-raiser, feel free to “raise away.” I’ll be anxiously awaiting your check in the mail.

Finally, here’s something for your “believe it or not” department; there is a plethora of fight fans that would love to see two of the greatest legends in boxing, mix it up in the, ring one more time. Despite your apparent lack of enthusiasm and less than cordial comments, I’ll hang on to your ticket, anyway. I promise to let you know when you can… "Say it IS so!"

Very Truly Yours,

Lisa Terlizzi
Manager, Hector Camacho

Glove2Glove:

Please say prayers for former top-notch fighter Art Soto, who is having some severe health problems from Alzheimer’s and cancer.

Say a prayer for the return to health of great boxer Mando Ramos, who is badly hurting, a result of an unsuccessful back surgery.

Please say prayers for Phill Grazide of Santa Rosa, CA. a big supporter of amateur boxing, who is suffering the crippling effects of rheumatoid arthritis.

Chas. Shandor, father in law of Ringsports.com writer Nick Constantine has been diagnosed with cancer and needs your prayers.

Your prayers have worked and Martin Sommers is no longer in hospice care, and in fact, is at home recovering. He and his family pass along their heartfelt thanks, and ask that your prayers continue.

Also down but not out with cancer is Kathy Ceravola, sister of top referee Elmo Adolph, and my best friend and co-founder of Glove2Glove, Susiey Walker.
Needless to say we need prayers for the return to health of both former champs Greg Page and Gerald McClellan, both confined to wheelchairs.

Glove2Glove is a non-denominational group set up to aide those boxing folks and their relatives in need of prayers and cards. We accept no money and only contact our members when someone is in need. It’s free to join. Simply send us your e-mail address. And even if you’re not a member, feel free to contact us if you are aware of some boxing person in need.

Touching on politics briefly:

As I’ve said before, it’s coming down to us against them, and if they win, it’s as good as over for the rest of the world.

The ‘them’ that I refer to, of course is the cold blooded terrorist group, Al Qaeda, who wants nothing more to force their demented beliefs of the teachings of the Koran on everyone.

And in order to do so, they have pretty much admitted that they want the death of all Christians and Jews.

So, the line in the sand has been drawn, and will continue to be drawn until all the countries of the World, that want to preserve, get together and not only tell these low life scumbags where to stick their sick beliefs, but go out of their way to shove it up for them as well.

Sept. 11, was the start. We should have continued our offensive against the terrorists by going into Northern Pakistan and getting rid of the scum being protected their by the tribal leaders.

Instead we are losing lives and time in Iraq, when we have already done the job and made it safe for democracy. We rid the world of a terrorist regime, and now we should let others take over while we continue our fight against those who are the real danger to world peace.

And it wouldn’t it be both ironic and great that as a side effect of Al Qaeda’s acts, the State of Israel and the other middle east countries fight side by side against this common foe?

Friends, this is not a time for politics, it’s a time for action. The Saudi’s have learned it the hard way, and other countries will as well, unless Bin Laden and his followers are stopped!

Agree or disagree, drop me a line.

Just want to clarify as a Muslim, as regards to your quote on a Muslim in paradise, please let me assure you this one has always brought up questions & critics alike, as far as the teaching of Quran go, there is no exact references to the 22 virgin theory you mention. Many a young males who believes dying for a cause such would be reward with 22 virgin in paradise is either troubled with his own secret desires or has been corrupted with images of sex to the extent to think heaven would be such a escape place to carry out a worldly fantasy is disillusioned by the concept of a reward in paradise, for those millions
in the world who believe in a God & the rewards of Heaven.
Surely know to really be holy & wanting God’s reward a mortal would not think in such a way (sexual desires) surely he is not doing a good deed in the first place. It’s a misguided concept of what god rewards you with what.

I haven't seen the Jones fight yet but I'm surprised that the utterly expected finally happened... it's amazing to see a fighter get this deep into his career and have this many championship bouts and never have a split or majority decision or run into a fighter that simply has a style that gives him trouble.

Good response to the Canadian pundit. If he knew more about the history of our nation he would realize that we have indeed elected military luminaries to our highest office. Two that immediately come to mind are Grant and Ike. Both of their civil administrations were less than stellar. He'd also know that nearly all American Presidents have served their nation in uniform, including the current Commander in Chief who served in the Texas Air National Guard.

Always interesting to hear the mindset of citizens from socialist democracies who are burning the candle of freedom from the opposite end then we are. They generally began as one form of police state or dictatorship of some type whereas we were born as a free nation. They want us to work backwards, we want them to come forward, in the details there's a serious rub.

Recent polls out of Europe show that the majority of those polled believe the republic of Israel is the most dangerous nation in the world, followed closely by the US. Somewhere far down the line they find secretive police states such as Syria, Oman, North Korea to be somewhat, but not nearly, as dangerous as the US, the world's most enduring and transparent democracy.

So to Europe’s, duly elected representatives that must face reelection every 2-6 years in two of three branches of Government are more dangerous to the world than nations that have had the same dictators in power for more than most of those polled have even been alive! I will forever be astonished by the belief in the tyranny socialist democracies show. Funny how you never heard any of this when there were 14 Soviet divisions massed on the Eastern European frontier.

Predictably the same poll shows that only 8 percent of respondents see any danger from the gigantic beaurocracy known as the European Union. All I can say is Vive La France!

Of course Osama doesn't care about Muslim people any more than Jim Jones cared about God. Nor do any of the Muslim dictators in power in the region. Look at how Jordan has treated the millions of Palestinian refugees within her borders, refusing to allow them to integrate into larger Jordanian society because they want the issue.

They want the dismantlement of the only democracy which just so happens to also be the only non-Arab nation in the region. They want to be able to bash Israel with the right of return issue and use it to forever stall peace negotiations and perpetuate bloodshed and so they keep their Muslim "brothers" in a perpetually desperate cycle of hopelessness and repression.
I noticed that Muslim nations did little to protect the small Islamic nation of Kuwait from the ever present threat presented by the militarily superior and hostile Iraqis. And I'd like to know how a police state like Syria that knows every time one of her citizens denounces the ruling Baathist Party doesn't know, and can't stop those same citizens from crossing an international border to commit terrorist acts in a neighboring nation.

Look, people can talk about US policy in the region all they want. The US has not deprived these people of democracy. Their leaders have. Nobody kills Muslims better than fellow Muslims. The US has never dropped a bomb on a hotel in Morocco or a Jordanian embassy, doesn't turn schools and holy places into weapons depots, doesn't send future generations to blow themselves up in foreign lands, our religious leaders don't preach from the Sunday pulpit that murder is a ticket to paradise, and the US doesn't finance the spread of virulent hatred to 60-80 nations throughout the world. Muslims do.

This is what happens in nations with no representative form of government that turn out more fundamentalist preachers than doctors, lawyers and engineers combined and controls all forms or public discourse. You get a citizenry wholly unable to pursue its own happiness and secure its own liberty.

Thanks for listening... talk to you soon... Just-D
