'THE BAYOU BOMBER' WINS BY KO IN 2ND ROUND
BOBBY AUCOIN STAYS UNDEFEATED IN 17 FIGHTS
Lafayette, Louisiana...............Staying undefeated is not an easy thing to do.
As the Keeppunching Stable loses the heavyweight (Big Skip Scott) fight by
decision and their junior welterweight (Jeremy Duplechain) contest by decision
both over 4 rounds, 'The Candyman' Blake Prevost loses an extremely controversial
6 round split decision to Martin Verdin in a light heavyweight contest. Aucoin
decided to not leave the decision in the hands of the judges stopping veteran
Michael Moss in 2 rounds bringing his record to 16 wins, 0 losses, with 1 draw,
8 of those wins by knockout. This was part of an extremely good undercard of
a main event fight for the IBU Welterweight Championship of the World won by
Chad Broussard over Homer Gibbons in a closely contested 12 rounder.
Approximately 6000 fans showed up to watch the Acadiana contestants perform. Sadly three
of those fights ended in losses while only two were winners, Aucoin and Broussard.
Although Moss has a losing record, he has been in with some of the top prospects in the
country going the distance with many. His experience of approximately 40 fights has given
fits to many in the squared circle.
"I was a little concerned after watching two of our stablemates lose and Blake lost a
decision that I thought he won handily," says Aucoin, "so I told my trainer/dad , Bobby
Aucoin, Sr., and my manager, Kerry Daigle, that I wasn't leaving this one in the hands
of the judges. I was looking for Moss to make a mistake and he did early when he
left his body open. I was told to attack him with left hooks to the body and once I did
I could see in his eyes he didn't want to engage any more, so I took it to him."
Aucoin tested the junior welterweight division in this fight. "He can still make lightweight
and even jr lightweight if we need to for an important fight," says Daigle, "but right
now we are going to campaign as a junior welterweight and test that division. Bobby
is much stronger, has more energy, and is actually quicker at that weight."
Showtime Boxing and its sister boxing program, ShoTime, are looking at Aucoin for an
important nationally televised match. Meetings with promoters from Tennessee and New
Jersey along with David Rivas Warrior Boxing Promotions at the Paragon Casino are
looking for Aucoin to fight for a marginal title soon.
"I'm ready to step up and face one of the other undefeated prospects," commented
Aucoin, "and it can be at junior welterweight. I was hoping my next match was going
to be against Antonio Davies for a title but Antonio lost a decision on ESPN the
other night so we are looking elsewhere."
Aucoin was the only local fighter to win by knockout Feb 4th.
