to Headline Cinco de Mayo
in Ybor City
Tampa, FL (May 4, 2006) - Boxing fans rarely get a chance to see what goes on inside a
pro boxing promotion with all it's ups and downs and last minute changes that are a constant
source of concern for promoters. The last thing in the world that a promoter wants to do
is make changes on his scheduled card ... especially in the top matches. But we live in
an imperfect world and changes are inevitable.
Whether due to injuries suffered in training, conflicts over getting opponents approved by
the State Athletic Commission, missed transportation or a multitude of other possibilities,
nothing concerns a promoter more than when these things causing changes on their show.
The true judge of a fighter is how he responds when he gets knocked down ... because all fighters
get knocked down at some time in their career. The true test of a boxing promotion is how they
respond when major changes are forced upon them at the top of their scheduled events.
Thus major cudos are in order to Silverhawk World Championship Boxing and Ringsports Boxing,
co-promoters of the highly respected and successful "Ybor Main Events" series for the way
they have responded from major bad news yesterday when their top two fights, featuring
Aaron and Eric Mitchell both fell out. Most promoters would have been devastated. Many
would have been forced to consider postponing or canceling the event. Not the case with
this outstanding team of relatively new boxing promotion companies.
Because of the depth and quality of their organizations, Silverhawk and Ringsports were able
to promptly scramble and within 24-hours put together an outstanding replacement card that
more than stands on it's own and speaks volumes to what classy and highly competent
organizations these are.
Friday nights main event will now feature new NBA World Heavyweight Champion Sherman "The
Caribbean Tank" Williams (29-10-2, 16 KOs) fighting Eark Ladson (12-9, 7 KOs). Williams
won the title in Ybor last month with a crowd pleasing knockout of David Na'il.
In dual co-feature matches middleweight Corey Johnsonm (32-2-2, 10 KOs) faces Karl Willis
(25-20-1, 17 KOs) and light heavyweight Rubin Williams (27-2, 16 KOs) takes on Richard
Grant (19-12-1, 5 KOs).
Three local fighters round out the card as cruiserweight Alfredo Escalera, Jr (8-0, 6 KOs)
fights Julian Rogers (19-12, 5 KOs); Sarasota's Adrian Perez (2-1, 1 KO) takes on Ricky
Thompson (0-1) in a super featherweight clash; and Antwone Smith meets Arnold Hill (1-0).
Silverhawk and Ringsports continue to bring world class boxing to Ybor City while also
throwing "the best party in town" with beautiful women, hot dancers, sexy round card

Doors open at 6:30 Friday night with bell time for the first fight at 7:30pm. Tickets are
